Privacy

Short version: ShelfShift has no accounts and no server database. Your reading log stays in your own browser. If you join the newsletter, your email goes to our newsletter provider, Buttondown.

What is stored, and where

• Reading log (shelves, notes, ratings and your yearly goal) is saved in your browser’s local storage on this device. It is not sent to us.
• Export files are created in your browser and downloaded to your device. Imports are read in your browser too.
• Newsletter: if you sign up for “New on the shelf,” your email (and first name, if you give it) goes to Buttondown, the service that sends our weekly email, along with a note that you signed up on ShelfShift. Buttondown sends a confirmation email first, and every email has an unsubscribe link. See Buttondown’s privacy policy.

Analytics and cookies

No analytics, advertising trackers or third-party cookies are used. If privacy-friendly analytics are added later, they’ll be listed here first.

Links to other sites

Book links go to Bookshop.org, Amazon, publisher pages or thealignedlifeseries.com. Those sites have their own privacy policies. Affiliate links are coming soon and will be labeled.

Clearing your data

Remove books on the Reading log page, or clear this site’s data in your browser settings. Export a backup first if you want to keep it.
